FAQ

Muslin Fabric Care

Are muslin backgrounds washable?
Yes, dyed muslins (e.g. solid colors) are machine washable (no bleach), however hand painted muslins are not. Please read the overview text to find out if your muslin is hand-painted or dyed.

My painted muslin shows fold creases and wrinkles. What can I do?
As painted muslin is naturally stiffer than dyed, it will show wrinkles more. One good way to help this is to put it in a dryer with a damp towel and a sheet of fabric softener. This will soften it up a lot. Another remedy is to hang it, then spray it lightly with a clear water spray (don't soak it). Many people just keep it stuffed in the bag as they like the fine spider web texture this creates.

How do I clean my backdrop?
The naturals may be machine-washed and will lose some sizing due to shrinkage (like any normal cotton material). You may reduce this by washing in cold water and tumble in dryer until it is slightly damp. The dyed backdrops may be machine-washed. Make sure to set washer on cold and add a cup of vinegar to keep the colors set in. DO NOT wash with any other fabric. The dyed muslins have already been washed and dried so there should be little shrinking, if any.

How do you store the backdrops?
The dyed, natural, designer and classic muslin backdrops can be folded or just balled up into a bag. We suggest that the painted canvas textured backdrops be rolled up and stored in their appropriate sized shipping tubes to prevent creasing.

Will my backdrop look just like the one on your website?
We try to get the colors and tones in the pictures as accurate as possible. But due to monitor calibrations, the use of different browsers and the given lighting in your studio, colors may vary slightly.
